Google has introduced a new AI companion for Gmail that will assist users in writing and customizing their emails. The AI, called Duet AI, is now available for Workspace users and can help with various tasks in meetings, documents, and Google Chat. One of its notable features is the ability to enhance Gmail’s smart reply feature, enabling users to easily draft longer and more personalized emails with a simple tap.
To provide more insight into how this works, Google has shared an update for Workspace users. Gmail users who are using Duet AI will have access to a “Help me write” button on both web and mobile platforms. This button will offer various options for writing assistance, including using the user’s own words to draft an email based on the context from previous conversations.
Additionally, the AI feature allows users to adjust the tone of their drafted email, making it more formal or adding more detail to the message. Alternatively, users can choose to make their drafted email shorter for brevity.
Google has also added a fun feature called “I’m feeling Lucky,” which offers different variations of tone and style for the drafted email content. This feature adds a playful element to the email-writing process.
Google has noted that a similar “Help me write” feature will be introduced in Docs, allowing users to change the tone of their content, summarize sections, add bullets, elaborate or shorten their text, and more. Users will even have the option to provide custom instructions for refining their content.
Overall, Google’s new AI companion aims to simplify and enhance the email and document writing experience for Workspace users.
