    Instagram is reportedly planning to extend the maximum length of Reels posts

    Moving from three minutes to 10 minutes, as revealed by mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi. This update will turn Instagram into a more robust video-sharing platform, similar to YouTube. With this move, Instagram aims to compete with TikTok, which already allows users to share videos up to 10 minutes long. This constant back-and-forth between the two platforms has led to a continuous adoption of features from each other. In contrast, YouTube is focusing on expanding its presence in the short-form video space. They recently introduced creator tools and a music-discovery feed reminiscent of TikTok. The days of categorizing Instagram as a photo-sharing platform, TikTok as a short video app, and YouTube as a long video platform are now a thing of the past. It seems like they all want to do it all.

    The Power of Short-Form Video: TikTok’s Influence

    Short-form video content has taken the digital world by storm, with TikTok leading the charge. The platform’s addictive 60-second videos have captivated users of all ages, leading to a surge in short-video consumption. Recognizing this trend, Instagram introduced Reels in August 2020, providing users with a similar format for creating and sharing bite-sized videos.
