Introducing the Volkswagen ID.GTI: The Electric Hot Hatch You’ve Been Waiting For

If you’ve been wondering when Volkswagen would introduce an enthusiast vehicle to its ID lineup, the answer is here. The ID.GTI concept is a sleek and sporty electric hot hatch that will soon be hitting the production line.

Inspired by the iconic GTI heritage, the ID.GTI is a compact hatch that exudes speed, even when it’s at a standstill. It’s slightly shorter yet taller than the current Golf GTI, providing ample interior space. Taking design cues from the ID.2all compact, the ID.GTI enhances its aesthetic with features like 20-inch wheels, spoilers, a rear diffuser, and LED fog lights.

While details on the handling and performance upgrades are yet to be revealed, the ID.GTI is expected to surpass the impressive stats of the ID.2all. With a 223HP motor, the ID.2all can sprint to 62MPH in under seven seconds and has an estimated range of 280 miles. The ID.GTI is set to outshine these numbers, including a higher top speed.

Volkswagen has confirmed that the ID.GTI will feature an electronically-controlled front-axle differential lock for superior traction control, similar to the current Golf GTI. Leveraging the flexibility of electric systems, the setup of the electric drive motor can be adjusted to provide even better performance. Plus, the battery’s placement in the vehicle floor ensures a low center of gravity for improved handling.

Inside the ID.GTI concept, you’ll find sporty tartan seats, a drive selector, a sport steering wheel, and a 10.9-inch instrument cluster. The 12.9-inch infotainment system is complemented by an AR head-up display, providing real-time information and even track layouts for both the driver and front passenger. A special GTI button activates a striking red lighting scheme.

Volkswagen has confirmed that the ID.GTI concept will make its way to production, although no specific timeline or pricing details have been provided. However, it’s expected to hit the market around the same time as the ID.2all, which is projected to have a price tag below $30,000 and a release date set for 2025.

Get ready to experience the thrill of the Volkswagen ID.GTI, where electrifying performance meets iconic design. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new addition to the Volkswagen family.
