Adobe has announced that its Firefly for Enterprise generative AI is now available commercially in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe Express. Along with this release, a new Firefly web application is now free to use for Creative Cloud paid plan subscribers.

The new subscription plan introduces “generative credits” (GCs), which allow customers to transform text-based prompts into images and vectors in various Adobe applications. Once users reach their monthly GC allowance, they can still use Firefly, but at a slower rate.

The Firefly web application is accessible through Creative Cloud, including the Express and Express Premium price points, as well as the free tier. Paid users also gain access to the full paid version of Express Premium. Adobe Express, an AI-first creativity app, is designed to generate commercially safe images and effects, supporting over 100 languages and exporting content to social media and publishing platforms. For enterprise users, Firefly and Express Premium are bundled together.

To address concerns about the ethical use of generative AI, Firefly automatically embeds Content Credentials in all generated works. These credentials serve as a digital “nutrition label,” displaying important information about the asset’s creation and edits. This initiative is part of Adobe’s broader effort to establish ethical norms and transparency in AI development.

Firefly AI promises to transform how creative professionals work. With the help of AI, you can automate time-consuming and repetitive processes such as image resizing, color matching, and object removal. For instance, suppose you want to remove the background of an image in Photoshop. In that case, you can use the Firefly tool to select the object, and AI will automatically remove the background, saving you valuable time and effort.

What’s more, Firefly AI can also make your designs more refined and professional-looking. The tool provides suggestions, based on your project, about color schemes, typefaces, and composition, and allows you to see the possibilities before implementing them. The AI can be used in conjunction with other Adobe creative tools, so you can get the most out of your project.

Firefly AI also enables faster collaboration between team members. With the tool, designers can quickly produce designs that can be adapted for an entire workspace or marketing campaign. Additionally, your design team can work more efficiently with better streamlining of the design process, all while ensuring that the design integrates well with your brand.

One of the most impressive aspects of Firefly AI is that it can be used by all creatives no matter their skill level. The interface has been designed to be user-friendly, allowing first-time users to learn easily. As a result, the tool makes designs more accessible to new users and opens the door to new creative possibilities for professionals of all skill levels.
